2024-2025 APPLICATION
The Avalon and Stone Harbor School districts are two independent public school districts, each with their own school board. Through a series of Interlocal Agreements, the two districts share many staff members and services. Students attend the Avalon Elementary School for grades Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, and grades 5-8. Students in grades K-4 attend Stone Harbor Elementary School. Both schools work cooperatively to ensure continuity of programs and smooth transitions for students.
The Avalon Stone Harbor Schools also accept nonresident students on a tuition basis. Nonresident students must apply and are admitted to the district in grade levels where space is available based on eligibility criteria. Once enrolled, the students do not need to reapply in subsequent years. Siblings of currently enrolled students are given preference in the enrollment process.
Our Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 programs are full day and each class has both a teacher and a paraprofessional. Hot lunch can be purchased daily and students receive special area instruction including music, art, physical education, Spanish, etc. with a NJ certified teacher. There is a daily rest time, along with outdoor gross motor activities and center based learning with the Creative Curriculum.
Our K-8 programs include a full academic schedule of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Students also participate in specials daily including art, health, library, music, physical education, Spanish, and technology. A wide range of sports and extra-curricular activities including cross country, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, art club, band, drama, choir, homework club, makerspace, and student council are available to give students a well rounded experience.
The Avalon Stone Harbor Schools provide a small, community based team of learners with a top notch staff. Students are treated as individuals and allowed to discover and grow their unique talents and interests.
