BSA & ASA

This program is held Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM (before school) & Monday - Friday, 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM (after school) for all students in Avalon & Stone Harbor Pre-K through 6th grade.

This program will be held in the gym at Stone Harbor School, there will be breakfast items provided for the AM session and
snack provided for the PM session. Any student who has special dietary needs should provide their own breakfast and/or snack.

Any Avalon School student coming for the AM session will catch the bus provided for transportation to the Avalon School. The bus will leave for Avalon School approximately 7:40 am. They can also ride the bus to Stone Harbor for the PM session at dismissal from Avalon School.

There will be indoor & outdoor play, along with many other activities.

It is our objective to provide high quality care and supervision for students Pre-K through 6th grade. We want our BSA/ASA Program to be a place where children have positive experiences and the parents feel secure and comfortable leaving their children.

Each month on the 30th, (starting August 30, 2026) you will receive a calendar for attendance for the following month. Select the days that you would like your child to attend BSA/ASA for that month and mark BSA, ASA or both sessions on that day.

The calendar of attendance dates must accompany monthly payment. See fees to calculate the monthly tuition according to the days/sessions you have submitted for the month. Payment is made via cash or a check made out to the Stone Harbor Board of Education.

Both calendar and payment are due on the 30th of each month. If the 30th falls on a weekend, then both are due the Friday before the 30th. If you need your child to attend on a day that you did not select as part of the monthly attendance, then that day will be considered a drop-in day. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please fill out the permission slip giving your child permission to attend this program and return to the Main Office for more information.

If your child misses a BSA/ASA session that they previously signed up for (for any reason) you will not be refunded for that session. If your child is absent for an entire school week (5 days consecutively) then you may credit that week onto the next month. If school or the BSA/ASA program is canceled due to weather, students will receive a credit for that day to be used in the next month.

The BSA/ASA Program closes at 5:30PM. There is a $5.00 fee for each (15) Minutes or part thereof that the child is picked up after 5:30 PM. This fee must be paid at time of pick up. Persistent abuse of the 5:30 PM closing time may result in dismissal from the program. PLEASE remember that the purpose of these policies is to maintain self- sufficiency of the BSA/ASA Program and to ensure its survival.

All school rules will be in effect during the BSA/ASA program. This includes regulations regarding Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying. If a child's behavior is such that rules are not adhered to, the child will have a time out away from the group activity. If the child's behavior is consistently troublesome, a parent conference will be scheduled. Alternatives will be discussed with the parent and the child. If, after these steps have been followed, your child is still unable to follow the rules and regulations, the child will be subject to suspension or dismissal from the program. If at any time, your child endangers the safety of him/herself or others, the child will be subject to suspension or dismissal from the program. Any incidents of harassment, intimidation, or bullying will be reported to the school Anti-Bullying Specialist as per District Policy no. 5131.
