School Performance Reports

School Performance Reports

The School Performance Reports reflect the New Jersey Department of Education’s (NJDOE) commitment to providing parents, students, and school communities with a large variety of information about each school and district. These reports can be used as a tool to help evaluate whether all students have equitable access to high quality education.

We encourage you to use these reports to:

  • Learn more about your school and district
  • Start conversations with school community members and ask questions
  • Engage with school communities to identify what schools are doing well and where they can improve

The NJDOE encourages families and communities to review this information along with other local data to start conversations, identify gaps and student needs, and help ensure all students receive the support and resources that they need. The School Performance Reports can and should be used in conjunction with available school and district data to identify priorities for future planning and the use of state and federal dollars.

Please review the resource guide for help understanding the data.

What’s New in the 2024-25 School Performance Reports

The School Performance Reports have been completely redesigned for 2024-25 because of the NJDOE’s transition to a new statewide data system. Every year, the reports are updated to respond to stakeholder feedback, federal and state requirements, and data availability.

The 2024-25 changes include:

  • New dashboard-based reports that replace many of the prior-year data tables with more visual representations of the data, which makes it easier to compare performance across years, student groups, or grades;
  • Expanded trend and student group data, with up to five years of performance data; and
  • More interactive reports providing options to filter data or add district or state comparisons.

The NJDOE plans to make additional changes and improvements in the coming years and is seeking public input on ways to improve future reports and feedback on the redesigned reports. Please complete the School Performance Report feedback survey or email reportcard@doe.nj.gov with feedback and suggestions.
